Hi Dedalus
I just returned from a trip up through William Creek, The rock and Simpson Desert.
There was a big out back do on at William Creek, alot of station Landcruiser tray tops in at the caravan park that night.
I had a look around and they all had terra trac tyres on them.
I have a customer that had a terra trac on his split rims on a 75 series along with the dunlop road grippers on the other three. The only tyre that looked half decent at the end of their life was the terra trac. He has since put Sime AT's on. Reasonable tyre for the price.
In my opinion they are OK and I would buy them when needed. That won't be for awhile as my MTR's will last years as they only go on when I go bush.
Hope this helps

Terra Tracs aren't bad for an AT rating - they are Chinese made for the Hercules company of the USofA/Canada. The local repair shop have had them at around the same price and They seemed pretty puncture proof until worn down a bit and had some stones off the South Australian section of the Princes Highway go through the tread in two. Both with slow leaks but take the stone out and shhhhhh. They handled well in the dry in the high country, but too much AT for much wet. They did the Simpson last year and Western Victoria - Birdsville - Mackay - western Victoria all ok this year.

Need something a bit better for my next ones I think or at least on the second set of rims. I don't know I like the look of their "Muddy" version to do much. They are cheap though I guess. Have them on the farm ute too but they still are only ATs

G'Day John,

Bought a set after your post on them a while ago. Wondering how many K's you got before you had problems? How much tread was left?

Was looking at getting around 60,000 out of my first pair.

Oh, if you take a trip east to the city you can get them for $175 fitted, (10 ply rating)

Regards

Rolande
